Day 313

Well, I'm here for a few moments. Mostly, I haven't been here as my eyes were too tired for a few weeks and then the past few weeks have involved two dentist appointments, Vicodin and penicillin  With the upshot  that instead of getting my lower wisdom teeth pulled out next Monday, I'll be getting a root canal. Oh. Joy.

Anyways, on to happier things. I'm thinking about try a new daily format, as we have somewhat routine days right now, or as routine as they'll ever get. And really the blog is my way of remembering what I was thankful for during the day. And it is the month of Thanksgiving anyways...

Thankfulness:

Buying some new home school books at Exodus for Jacob and Daniel.

Enjoying the fall color slowly disappearing.

New autumn-ish decorations on the fireplace mantel. (Pictured)

That I'm slowly feeling better from the antibiotics.

Waiting quietly

Things I'm thankful for (or trying to be!):

1. A warm fire - Daddy built one this afternoon and it's still going strong. I'm laying in front of it as I type.
2. Good sermons on Lamentations - Our pastor is preaching on this right now. Today was a good day for me to hear his wisdom.
3. A renewed focus on being thankful. I'll be honest, I whined and worried a lot to God last week. And I'm not proud of it. I lost my Praise-The-Lord-no-matter-what focus. Hence this post to try and shape things up for this coming week.
4. The fact that my worrying and whining doesn't change anything.
5. God is in control.
6. That God has called me to wait... quietly. And hope. He knows my desires.
7. This being driven home to me by this verse that God laid on my heart from today's sermon.
25
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,To the soul who seeks Him.
It is
good that one should hope and wait quietly
(Lam. 3:25,26a)
8.  That he does hear my prayers
9. That he will give me the strength to wait on him and not try to take matters into my own hands.
10.  The last couple of weeks being filled with on and off sickness. Thus not a lot of homeschooling happening. Which also means we are getting behind... in my mind at least. But really, God's in charge.
11. My memory or lack thereof. The exercises I get from the functional neurologist play havoc on my memory some weeks. And my eyes...
12. Not always getting the "big" picture of a scenario. Kind of hard to explain, but I just don't pick up on stuff like I always should... which is all related to the previous point.

And now for more fun stuff..
A friend who got engaged yesterday! Yay!
Another friend getting married in 40 some days.
Baby Lambs
White Collar marathons. I think we watched 3 or 4 episodes tonight...
Being strong enough to start exercises beyond yoga, ie, using "weenie" weights.
How much better I'm feeling. Even with my weird brain stuff, I feel better than I have in years!

Well, I guess I'm off to bed. G'nite folks!

Thankfulness

Things I am thankful for today:

1. For walking into my vision therapy appointment and finding out that I'm getting put onto maintenance! That means I'll be doing 5 minutes a day, 2 times a week (10 minutes total!) instead of the 30-45 minutes, 6 days a week (3-4 1/2 hours a week) which is what I've been doing.... So, so thankful!!!

2. Which also means I am reading. Feeling like I'm finally feasting after fasting from books. I feel like I have six months to make up and it's been wonderful.

 3. For malted vanilla ice cream with chocolate flakes. I made some this evening to celebrate #1. It was good.

4. Homegrown ripe tomatoes. Enough said.

5. That my sweet grandfather is giving me one of his "old" cameras. It's really not that old and it's going to suit me just fine. I'm very thankful! In fact if it wasn't for vision therapy, this would be the top of my list!

6. For a 10 year old brother that tells me to come in and say good night. And then he gives me a stuffed kitty to keep me company while I sleep.

7. The Three Stooges. (Bet you weren't expecting that one!) We just discovered there are episodes on Hulu. I grew up watching these guys over and over again. I think when we were sick we watched Three Stooges and Warner Brother cartoons and Marx Brothers non stop. So I thought I had seen them all! But thanks to Hulu, I now know I haven't. Tyler showed us this one tonight and it was pretty clever. The horses were incredibly well trained!
