Day 174

:: Eating lunch near Llyod center with Mom and Jacob. And wishing we had planned our day in advance differently so we could have gone to the homeschool conference!
:: 2 & 3 Topaz playing with my hoopskirt laying on the rocking chair
:: What else? Mostly the day was spent up in Portland. Got some new pajamas! I haven't had a "matched set" in eons. I feel special. :) Moved the sheep fencing in the orchard. I'm experimenting with Mob Stocking. I'd like to try and do it in some of the fields we are not haying this year. Hopefully the sheep will cooperate.  Right now I'm getting them used to the idea of portable electric fencing. 

Day 142

1. Waiting for Daniel & Jacob to finish piano lessons
2. Yoga at night
3. What else? Errands &  Dr K (No more sneezing, yay!), teriyaki for lunch, potato soup for dinner, moving the sheep fencing

Day 109

1. Hannah's pretty rununculas
2. And her awesome bunting (no it's not hanging sideways, my photo is sideways)
3. Bridesmaid dress detail
4. What else? Visiting with Hannah W., and weeding together :), finishing tailoring my bridesmaid dress, weeding with Hannah, buying a new watch (Silly, but I really needed one and finally did it... basically my perfect watch appeared once in an ad in the WSJ and since I can't afford that, I don't feel like buying anything less... which is stupid.), setting up more portable electric fencing for the sheep that are grazing in the orchard.

Day 102

1. Bottle feeding Moe (on the left) and Curly (on the right) at 8am this morning
2. Moe waiting for Jacob to feed him
3. Finally got new contacts! Yay. I can see my eyes again. :)
4. Hanging out with Kate in Canby. We've just finished our chocolates from Ladybug Chocolates.
5. Putting up fencing in the orchard for a few of the sheep. 
6. What else - getting treated to lunch at Kate's house, moving the rest of the sheep to new pasture & feeding minerals, visiting with our neighbor Nancy this evening who came over to see and feed the calves.

Day 56

1., 2. &3. Spent various intervals of the day tending to baby lambs and herding sheep. Why do ewes insist on having lambs when its freezing? Last week it was practically balmy! All the ewes and lambs now have access to ample shelter from the rain/snow so hopefully we're good for the rest.


Lamb count: 6 - 1 =5 (one lamb got too cold last night)

A painted house and other farm ramblings

So the house is done! *Little happy dance* To be honest, I think we are all pretty surprised that we actually got it done before the rains set in... there just nearly wasn't enough drama in getting it done to make it feel normal! So here's a mostly done shot of the house. It looks even better now that we got things cleaned up and put back but it's dark outside, so I don't think taking a picture this minute would fully capture the glamour. ;)






Here's a candid shot of some of the sheep at evening time. Overall, they're looking really good. In fact, we should have babies sometime soon. Like, I should figure this out... soon!  It helped that we had such a wet spring. We haven't had to feed them hay this summer.





And our back door. This gets the most improved award of our yard for this year. Especially now that the roses are blooming. The sunflowers have added a lot... I'm hoping next year to do sunflowers along the other side too!

A Sheepish Excursion

Today Jacob and I went out to give the sheep their minerals and give anti-biotics to one ewe that's doing a little poorly. Here's the man sheeps coming to check us out. i'm sure they're thinking.. "Food! food! FOOD!"
